I went for a feeling with no pre-selected tracks. Just what's in front and what speaks when selected. In the end it's NYC, Chicago, Toronto, Detroit. Tracks that deliver and stand the test of time.
This is an unashamed selection of tunes that always work and are mostly known. For me this is going back to the sound of Body & Soul NYC compilations, Ron Trent's best vibey bits, Deep Dish's deep-but-not-so-deep cuts, rugged and raw techno with an element of soul, jazzy techno that got lifted off Gilles Peterson's and Bob Jones's shows at a very special time. Many tunes that have been longstanding favourites but which might need more recognition. Tunes that mattered to me and my friends at the time and still do. Some cut very deep, as they should.
